STUDIO

I make work that reflects my interests in everyday life, influenced by the experiences of my upbringing in the Deep South. I use bold, graphic lines to demonstrate my bold opinions on topics that spark passion and inspiration in me. I experiment with different styles and methods in every work. Chalk pastel or ink can be seen in many of my works because of the stark contrast in the texture and color. I aim to create illustrations that share my own experiences growing up. I tend to use animals to reflect human behaviors that I notice. Using colorful chalk pastel and animals brings an approachable and whimsical aspect to uncomfortable conversations that I like to start through my work.

Creating off the clock

I was challenged with a monochromatic drawing assignment. This gator still life is inspired by the night vision scene in the movie "Silence of the Lambs"

Process Project:

I created a new artistic process when making these works. First, I used marker to roughly color the shape of an animal with no reference picture. Then, I went over with micron pen while looking at a reference image. To finish the pieces, I painted a complimentary background with acrylic.

Mutant Project

I was assigned to make a mutant creature. This jackrabbit was the first animal I drew with chalk pastel. Creating this helped me discover my favorite subject and medium!

My grandma gave me a 32 x 40 canvas and told me to paint anything I wanted on it for her. I made this marsh landscape hoping it would remind her of going to the beach with my grandpa.

Bead crafts are my favorite 3D medium to use when I need a break from staring at pixels. I love finding patterns with color and shape.
